The Settings Accounts tab allows you to delete accounts from your phone and stop the synchronization of applications that kill the battery.

All owners of an Android phone have a Google account, but there are many other applications on our phones that require their own login credentials. The longer your phone is, the more it can accumulate, and in a short time, the application drawer is full of all sorts of services that may or may not be linked to an active account.

But you do not have to open each application to manage them. Whether you want to add, delete, or modify one of your accounts, Google has created a handy way to do it right inside the Settings app. Let us show you how.

On the Personal Settings tab, you will find an option for Accounts. This is independent of the Google tab, where you will find a large number of preferences related to the operation of your Google account on your device. Accounts maintains a running list of social media, storage and email accounts you have on your phone and gives you the power to delete them and control your background activities.

Once you open the tab, you will instantly find an alphabetical list of all applications on your phone that have active accounts linked to them. All your Google accounts will be properly collected in the Google tab, but any other email address you use will be linked to the appropriate customer. So if you use Newton Mail and Gmail to manage your iCloud address, they will be displayed separately.

At the bottom of the list you will find an Add Account button, which does exactly what you expect it to do. Touch it and you will get a list of all the applications on your phone that require an account, so you can link a new one or add another one to Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, etc.

Select one of the applications from the list and you will be taken to your respective login page where you can log in with a new username. (The Google button, which takes you to the Google Play Services account page, first requires fingerprint or password authentication.) When you return to the Accounts page, it has been added to the active list.

Along with adding accounts, you can also manage the amount of data each is using in the background. Each application has its own synchronization settings, so it will be able to get a handle on any that can squeeze the life of the battery. Most provide a simple on / off switch, but some offer more granular controls, particularly the Google application, which has 13 switches for each of its various applications and services. You can also choose to turn off automatic synchronization completely by touching the three dots in the upper right corner and unchecking the auto sync data box.

Although you’ll need to visit individual applications to do things like change your password or turn on two-factor authentication, you can still use the menu to remove inactive or compromised accounts. For example, if you want to delete a Google account from your phone, tap the application icon, select the account you want to delete (if more than one is linked) and press the menu button in the upper right corner. Then, in the drop-down menu, select Delete account, confirm that it is what you really want to do and it will be deleted instantly from the phone.

Repeat this process for any account you want to delete from your phone. However, remember that this method only unlinks the account. To remove the application completely, you will need to find the icon on the phone, touch it and say it, and move it to the Uninstall droplet at the top of the screen.
